Annie Mae Dobson
Annie Mae, a Cavalier King Charles, first came to hydrotherapy on
the 10th of February 2011 when her weight became a problem for her. She was always
larger than her brother Rory and her weight was highlighted by her groomer Pip who
found Annie unable to stand upright for too long.
Pip spoke to Mr. and Mrs. Dobson
and suggested visit to her vet.

The vet confirmed that it was in Annie Mae's interest to lose weight and increase
her fitness. They recommended to get her weight down from 12.3kg to 9 kg,
At her first
hydrotherapy session her waistline measured 57cm, she spent a total of 1 and a half
minutes swimming which left her breathless and tired, this matched her normal fitness
levels which in Mrs. Dobsons words " Rory would run on in front while Annie Mae plodded
along behind and couldn’t wait to get home". We agreed that Annie Mae would only
swim once a week to start with, to build her fitness and strength.
After a few more swims' Annie Mae started to show more stamina and strength in her
hind legs' and at her next groom she was able to stand upright without tiring. On
the 26th of March 2011 her waistline measured 52.5cm and she is now enjoying playing
games more at home as well as
keeping up more on her walks.
